April is Child Abuse Awareness Month and the North Iowa Child Abuse Prevention Council has the following events planned to bring public awareness in an effort for our community to work together to prevent child abuse and neglect.
April 19th:
6:30-7:30pm: Community Room at City Hall
Coloring activity for children. Color Contest Display (winners will be displayed on
4/20/13)
Shaken Baby Syndrome demonstration
Gourmet cupcakes from Sweet Tooth Cupcakes
7:30pm: Awareness Walk (from City Hall to City Park)
Community will stop to tie blue ribbons on the trees in City Park.
7:45pm: Seawall
Releasing of BLUE lanterns over Clear Lake in remembrance of those children whom left this world too early as a result of child abuse or neglect.
April 20th
9-11am: Clear Lake Fire Station
Continental breakfast donated by United Way
Coloring contest winners displayed
Coloring activities for children
KIDS ID Kits - fingerprinting and identification
Special appearances from Mickey Mouse, Spiderman, and SpongeBob SquarePants courtesy of Love and Luck Entertainment.
Tours of the Fire Station and Fire Museum
10:00am: Central Gardens
Pinwheels for Prevention. Community is invited to come and place pinwheels in the ground at Central Gardens as a symbol of hope that we can work together as a community to prevent Child Abuse and Neglect.
