The Schoolhouse

About Us

The two-story Schoolhouse was built in 1870 and is located on the same property as The Clausen House. It has been completely remodeled into a relaxing, quiet getaway just two blocks from Main Avenue and three blocks from the Lake.

It boasts a new fully furnished kitchen and three bathrooms, a bedroom suite and a family area with bunk beds and other optional beds. Can sleep up to 8.

The first floor is an open design with a handicap-friendly bathroom, including a zero-entry shower. A stacked washer and dryer are available on the first floor for our guests’ convenience.

The family living area and kitchen share a custom-built table using the original floorboards. There is a 65-inch LG Smart TV, which can be swiveled to be enjoyed from the kitchen or the living area.

The entire kitchen is new and has a 36-inch Cosmos commercial gas range with oven. It also includes a full-size refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher and automatic 12-cup coffee maker and single-cup coffee maker.

A desk-type work area along with a charging station is provided on the first floor. High speed Wi-Fi is also available.

The second floor is where the primary bedroom with en suite full bath is located. The bedroom includes blackout shades.

There is also a large game and entertainment area with a set of bunkbeds, a queen-sized trundle bed and an EZ bed, which is an air mattress queen size bed on legs at regular bed height that can be folded up when it's not needed.

There is a third full bathroom, which serves this area, along with a stacked washer and dryer for our guests’ convenience.
