Join us for Fresh on Fridays at Central Gardens every Friday from 9-11 a.m. beginning June 5.

Fresh on Fridays brings together three favorite ways to enjoy the Gardens:

Garden Explorers
- Running June 5-August 14, Garden Explorers offers hands-on activities and engaging garden experiences for kids of all ages in the Bee Happy Discovery Garden. In partnership with community collaborators, every Friday brings something new to explore, from tasting fresh produce in the vegetable garden and discovering plants and insects up close, to helping water, creating nature-inspired art, or enjoying a good book. Follow along on Facebook each week to see what’s abuzz!

Bouquets
- Available June 5-September 11, our beautiful Fresh on Fridays bouquets are the event that started it all. Talented volunteers create freshly picked flower arrangements available for purchase at reasonable prices every Friday morning. Pick up a bouquet to brighten your table and start the weekend with something fresh from the Gardens.

Refreshments
- Offered June 5-August 28, complimentary coffee and light refreshments are available on the pavilion patio. Relax, connect with others, and enjoy the welcoming atmosphere of the Gardens as you ease into your Friday.

​Fresh on Fridays is a wonderful way to gather, explore, and enjoy the beauty of Central Gardens all summer long.

Kids of all ages are invited to enjoy another engaging Friday in the Bee Happy Discovery Garden filled with hands-on activities, outdoor exploration, and interactive experiences in partnership with community collaborators. Each week offers families the opportunity to learn, create, and connect in a fun and welcoming outdoor setting. This week features a hands-on upcycling activity with Iowa Waste Exchange, where participants can get creative while learning about reuse, sustainability, and reducing waste through fun, interactive projects. In addition, ISU Extension programming will be available, offering educational activities designed to encourage curiosity, learning, and community involvement for participants of all ages through their “Activity in Gardens” programming. Visitors are encouraged to explore the Bee Happy Discovery Garden throughout the morning and enjoy all the seasonal offerings, from garden activities to community-led experiences.
