This class is part of the Empowered Leader Supervisor Certificate Series. All ten courses can be taken as a series ($629) to earn your Empowered Leader certificate (recommended for maximum learning), or you can just sign up for the ones you choose ($69/class). These courses are designed for new or upcoming supervisors but could also be beneficial to experienced leaders looking for a review of the basics. The Empowered Leader courses cover the fundamentals and beyond, so you can feel confident as you lead others. The Supervisor’s Job (9/16/19, Course #4811): In this class, explore what it takes to successfully perform the role of Supervisor. You will identify how to make the transition from lead worker to Supervisor and get a better understanding of how to empower different generations in the workplace. Becoming a Leader (9/23/19, Course #4812): Leaders are developed, not born. This class will define leadership, provide steps for establishing leadership in a facility, define accountability through developing and writing expectations, and explain how to work with employees who don't want or can't handle empowerment. Appreciating Clients, Customers, & Coworkers (9/30/19, Course #4813): Do you ever wonder why we get along really well with some people and not so well with others? In this course, identify your personal behavioral styles and how they dictate what you say and do. You'll also learn how to best communicate with others, all while developing teamwork and trust within your group. Motivation (10/7/19, Course #4814): This class will help you identify which factors motivate and de-motivate employees. Learn about motivational needs and how to develop strategies that work in your facility. Identify traditional methods of motivation and learn guidelines for effective encouragement. Communication Skills (10/14/19, Course #4815): Communication is critical to an organization's success. As your responsibilities increase, communication becomes more critical than ever before. In this class, develop strategies to improve communication at the personal level. Learn why communication often fails, and identify how to be a better listener. Problem Solving (10/21/19, Course #4816): Effectively preventing and solving problems saves time and money. Could you benefit from a structured method of problem solving? In this class, you will determine who needs to be part of the problem solving process and identify the variables involved. Delegating & Monitoring (10/28/19, Course #4818): To successfully manage a project, the Supervisor must understand the value of delegation. This session will explore why we don't like to delegate tasks. You will also learn what types of tasks should be delegated and to whom. Interviewing & Hiring (11/4/19, Course #4820): Supervisors know how important it is to bring the right candidates through the door. Do you have all the skills needed to effectively interview and hire employees? During this session, your instructor will help you examine the hiring process, from pre-interview to making an offer. Evaluating Employee Performance (11/11/19, Course #4821): Learn to provide honest input on employee performance and write goals for success. Your instructor will explain why it's important to evaluate performance, demonstrate how to write appropriate expectations, and show you how to compare employee performance to expectations. Employee Discipline (11/18/19, Course #4822): Disciplining employees can be one of the most difficult parts of a Supervisor’s job. In this course, learn to diagnose performance problems, implement disciplinary actions, and troubleshoot difficult issues. Discuss progressive discipline and identify strategies to make it effective.
