Mason City Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution cordially invites you to the rededication ribbon cutting of DAR Park in Clear Lake, Iowa and placement of a park bench in celebration of America s 250th birthday Friday, October 11th at 4:15 p.m. just off Wesley Dr. south of Hwy 18.
A full rededication ceremony will be held Saturday, October 12th at 2:00 p.m. There will be a short program which will include a historical perspective of the area given by Beth Ann Schumacher of the Clear Lake Historical Society. In 1925, the Clear Lake DAR Chapter purchased D.A.R. Park - historic site of the 1876 pavilion where early day Chautauqua meetings were held. In 1960 the chapter gave the park to the City of Clear Lake. This event is open to the public and is a wonderful opportunity to visit the park and hear about the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
The National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution is a women’s lineage-based nonprofit, nonpartisan women’s service organization with a mission to promote historic preservation, education and patriotism.
