Eight brave couples will take center stage to compete for the coveted Crystal Ball Trophy at this year’s Dancing for the Dream fund-raising event. “This is our version of Dancing with the Stars. Many of our clients love to dance so we were inspired to create this event to support their dreams,” said Sherry Becker, Executive Director of NIVC Services. The mission for NIVC Services is helping people with disabilities work.
According to the planning committee, this year’s event features a new location, more dancers, more delectable appetizers and more silent auction items like ballroom dance lessons for two, Iowa Cubs tickets, an autographed picture of Viking Adrian Petersen, Viking pre-season tickets, dinners, wines, a night’s stay at local inns, and other select items. Guests will be greeted by the sounds of WorldPort with Paul Micich, Electric Horn; Dan Nicholson, Guitar; and Ryan Mullen, Percussion.
Featured North Iowa “celebrity” dancers and their partners include Tim and Rhonda Clark, Clear Lake; Tim Coffey and Pam Bergo Coffey, Mason City; Brad Dondlinger and Roxanne Pals, Mason City; Jerry and Barb Dwyer, Clear Lake; Shannon and Emily Dykstra, Nora Springs; Nick von Fischer and Sarah Danik, Mason City; Paul and Anita Micich, Mason City; Joe and Bailey Malone, Mason City.
Tickets are now on sale for the Saturday, March 2 event, 6-9 p.m. at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake. Featured appetizers will be served at 6 p.m. with time for casual dancing. Emcee Brian Carlson will kick off the dance contest at 7 p.m. A panel of judges will score the dance presentation, but just like on the television show, their scores do not carry as much weight as the dollar votes from the audience.
The event is sponsored by Corporate Farmer, Mason City Exchange Club, Three Eagles Radio, Schupick and Associates, Diamond Jo Casino, Dr. Bruce & Deb Harlan, Brad & Cathy Isaak, Bob & Toby VanDenBosch, Yunek Law Firm, Fine Line Photography, First Citizens National Bank, JoDesign Marketing, Ollenburg Motors Inc., PostNet, Waynes Ski and Cycle, and Williams and Associates.
Judges include Dalena Barz, Three Eagles Communications; David Swiergosz, Community National Bank; Connie Cicetti, 2012 Champion; Matt Messenger, Mason City Country Club; and Joel Yunek, Yunek Law Firm. Tickets for the evening event are available at NIVC Services, Affordables or Job Link offices or call 641-423-3301. Cost is $35 per person which includes appetizers, entertainment and fun!
