With over 60 breweries and over 100 local wineries, the growth of the craft beer and wine movement in Iowa has been compared to the Napa Valley growth in the 1970's in California. The craft beer industry alone pumped $100 million into Iowa's economy and accounted for 1,500 jobs in 2014 according to the Iowa Wine and Beer Promotion Board. From their garages, front porches, and basements, creative men and women are rolling up their sleeves and producing some absolutely amazing wines and beers. Like all small businesses, the craft beer and wine industry is about hard work, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
