Clear Lake Fire Department's Push-In Ceremony

The Clear Lake Fire Department is hosting a Push-In Ceremony for the city's new fire truck, Engine 5, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3.

Beginning in the 1800s, after crews returned from a call on horse-drawn equipment, the animals were unable to back into the station, requiring members to detach the horses and push the equipment into the bay. With the invention of the motorized apparatus, the need to manually move the equipment was gone.

Now, in honor of those early crews, the Clear Lake Fire Department is holding a Push-In Ceremony. We are inviting the community to join us in this unique event. There will be coffee, cookies and drinks as well as a chance to examine the new truck.

The station and the Fire Museum will be open for those that wish to tour both.
