SUMMARY:"TWELFTH NIGHT" by Waldorf Theatre Company at the Arts Center
DESCRIPTION:The Waldorf Theatre Company kicks off its summer tour with a presentation of William Shakespeare's Twelfth Night at the Clear Lake Arts Center in Clear Lake\, Iowa on Tuesday\, May 26th at 11:00AM.\n\n \n\nViola and her twin brother Sebastian have been shipwrecked off the coast of Illyria. Each believes that the other has been drowned. Viola disguises herself as a boy and\, under the name of Cesario\, enters the service of the duke Orsino. The duke sends Cesario to woo the lady Olivia on his behalf\, but Olivia falls in love with the lovely 'boy'. Viola/Cesario\, meanwhile\, has fallen in love with Orsino. Sebastian is saved by the sea captain Antonio and he too arrives in Illyria. Malvolio\, Olivia's steward\, disapproves of the other members of her household her kinsman Sir Toby Belch\, his friend Sir Andrew Aguecheek and the jester Feste. Led by the ingenuity of Maria\, Olivia's waiting-woman\, these three plot Malvolio's downfall. Olivia meets Sebastian and\, mistaking him for Cesario\, arranges for them to be secretly married. Further confusion follows upon mistakes as to the identity of the twins. Orsino is furious at the apparent falseness of his page\, but\, with the eventual meeting of the twins\, true identities are revealed and Orsino recognizes his love for Viola.\n\n \n\nThis production will run approximately 40 minutes and will feature a cast of five actors with special appearances by some puppet friends.\n\n \n\nThe Waldorf Theatre Company goes on summer tour May 26 through June 4\, presenting the show in schools\, parks\, and theaters in Iowa\, Illinois\, Indiana\, Michigan\, and Wisconsin.\n\n \n\nStudents serve as both cast and crew members for the performances\, which Sollish believes will help teach them what it takes to part of a small acting company. "I hope they will learn the fun of traveling and playing for many different types of audiences\," said Sollish. "The students will learn\, in part\, what it means to be a professional actor out on a regional tour."\n\n \n\nWhile a majority of the students in the ensemble are theatre majors\, all students are welcome to join the Waldorf College Theatre Company.\n\n \n\nTwelfth Night Cast\n\nCassidy Atchison of Allen Texas\n\nLauren Schryver of Farmington\, New Mexico David Sollish of Morgantown\, West virginia Kelsey Sollish of Carlinville\, Illinois Emily Walker of New Orleans\, Louisiana\n\n \n\nAll are welcome to attend this free performance.
