SUMMARY:Lake Leadership
DESCRIPTION:Lake Leadership is a series of nine monthly sessions designed to educate civic minded individuals about Clear Lake. It provides a behind-the-scenes opportunity to learn more about your community. You will also network with your peers\, and complete a community impact project.\n\n\n\nSeptember 17- Orientation Luncheon. Learn more about the upcoming 7 class sessions and meet your class members. It will also provide a forum for you to begin thinking about a community project.\n\n \n\nOctober 15   Economic Development and Finance Day   Our first program starts off with a tour of the Mason City airport and plane rides around Clear Lake (weather permitting).  Talk with staff of the North Iowa Corridor Economic Development Corporation\, and learn about the area's banking system.\n\n \n\nNovember 19   Education Day   You will tour local education and support facilities as will as discuss today's education issues with Clear Lake school administration and staff. Don't forget about extra -curricular activities\; we will also take a look at these facilities. A class picture will be taken this day also.\n\n \n\nDecember 17  Health & Recreation Day   You will visit local health care institutions and get a first- hand look at the health services and hear from our City's Park & Recreation Department and DNR.\n\n \n\nJanuary 21   Business\, Industry and Media Day   You will learn about Clear Lake's businesses and industries\, including a tour of one of our major businesses. In addition\, you will see behind the scenes at our local media service companies.\n\n \n\nFebruary 18   City and County Government Day   You will visit the County Law Enforcement Center\, Court House\, Clear Lake Fire Station\, Police Station\, and City Hall and speak to lead representatives from these organizations.\n\n \n\nMarch 18   City and County History Day   You will spend the day learning about the unique and colorful history of our community\, sprinkled with gems about our County history.\n\n \n\nApril 15   Agriculture Day - You will tour area farming operations and learn how progressive our agriculture really is.\n\n \n\nMay 20   Graduation Luncheon - You will receive your class photo\, certificate of completion and hear from a guest speaker\, as well as report on the completion of your class community project.
